Family of woman held by convicted murderer release statement

first_imgThe family of a woman involved in an incident before the arrest of convicted murderer William Bicknell is speaking out about the ordeal.In a statement released by the Grande Prairie RCMP, the Schoorl family says “as you can appreciate, this was a very dangerous and emotional situation for our family. We are currently coping with what has taken place and together as a family are doing well given the circumstances.”- Advertisement -The family goes on to thank the public for “their support and concerns in regards to our safety and well being,” but that they are asking for privacy and say they cannot disclose further information about the incident because the investigation is still ongoing.Bicknell, a convicted murder, was arrested just after 4 p.m. near Sexsmith, Alta. last Saturday after being on the run for a week.He had overpowered a corrections officer in Edmonton on March 10, escaping in a grey Chevrolet Impala.Police allege that Bicknell entered an elderly woman’s home near Sexsmith early in the morning on March 19, holding her hostage until she escaped later that afternoon and contacted police.Advertisementlast_img read more
