first_imgFormer vice president of MS Dhoni’s school, DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi, AK Singh has said he is not surprised by the India cricketer’s gesture when it came to showing respect to the national flag during the recently-concluded third T20I between India and New Zealand in Hamilton.Singh said patriotism was in Dhoni’s soul and the credit for the same should go to his mother, who was his first teacher.Singh’s comments came after Dhoni made sure the Indian tri-colour didn’t touch the ground even as a pitch invader, carrying the flag tried to touch the cricketer’s feet on Sunday.Dhoni snatched away the Indian flag from his fan’s hand, showing some quick reflexes that are often visible with his glovework. Dhoni’s gesture went viral on social media wherein the World Cup-winning former skipper was lauded.”Mahi had patriotism in his soul and I am sure he is not only a youth icon but he is an ambassador of patriotism. In a match, he swiftly showed the respect of 132 crores fellow countryman. All students stand in attention while the National Anthem is played.
