CHELSEA WARNING! Blues must make Premier League title statement after Euro exit

first_imgMark Bosnich says Chelsea must get over the disappointment of their exit from Europe quickly or risk derailing their Premier League title bid.Jose Mourinho’s side were knocked out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage on Wednesday night, with Paris Saint-Germain securing a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge to progress to the quarter-finals on away goals, despite playing the majority of the match with ten men.But Bosnich says the Blues must not get too downhearted and must now focus all their efforts on beating Southampton this weekend to maintain their charge for Premier League glory.“When you suffer such a disappointment, in whatever competition, it is so important to bounce back in your next game,” said the former Chelsea goalkeeper, speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.“It is a very fine line between success and failure. There will be a few players feeling sore and mentally a bit tired because they went out to PSG so they have to go out and make a statement to the fans and to the Premier League.”Mourinho admitted his side got what they deserved against PSG, who hardly looked hindered by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first-half sending off, and Bosnich agrees that the better team won through.“Laurent Blanc got it tactically spot on, especially after Zlatan Ibrahimovic got sent off,” he said.“He left Chelsea’s right-hand side unattended and made sure they had somebody on Eden Hazard. You just have to say well done to Paris Saint-Germain.”last_img read more
