The reserves travel to Dooey on Sunday for the return leg of the Junior B championship preliminary round.The U16s were defeated by Red Hughs in the championship on Monday evening last. A goal from a free kick, the last kick of the game gave Red Hughs victory in a game where the Gaels were leading by six points at half time. Best for Gaels were Conor Browne, James Carr and Conor Sweeney. Final Score was Gaels 1.9 Red Hughs 2.7. They now go forward to play Downings in the Shield semi-final on Monday the 4th July at Páirc na nGael.The U14s are at home to Termon on Wednesday evening The U12s went down to a narrow defeat to St. Michaels at Pairc na Gaeil last Friday. They played St Eunans in the final U12 go-game in Pairc na nGael on Monday evening and performed well against a strong Eunans outfit.Gaels hosted an U10 hurling blitz on Sunday morning with teams from Setanta, Aodh Rua, Four Masters, Dungloe, Gweedore and St. Eunan’s taking part. Our two teams performed well and showed great determination and enthusiasm in their matches. GAA: NAOMH COLUMBA GAA NOTES

first_imgNaomh Columba 31.01.2012We are all set to go for Stars in Their Eyes 2012, our first fundraiser of the new year, taking place in Meenaneary this Saturday night, February 4th. Nine local acts will battle it out for the Stars in Their Eyes trophy, kindly sponsored by John Joe of Doherty Trophies. Doors will open at 8.30pm, with the show getting underway at 9pm sharp. Anyone wishing to get a seat is advised to come along early, as the hall fills up fast! Many congratulations to Aisling Jones, who is flying the club flag at county level, after being named on the county under 14 panel. At the time of going to press Kevin Mc Nern was due to compete with the county vocational schools team in the Ulster final, playing Cavan on Wednesday evening in Enniskillen. Training for the senior and reserve teams has commenced, under the new management of Paddy J Mc Ginley. We wish Paddy and his teams every success in the coming season. Club membership is now being sold, and is priced as per last year: €30 for family membership, and €20 for single membership. Please note that the family membership covers parents and all children under 18 in the household. Anyone over 18 must purchase individual membership. All underage players must hold club membership in order to be covered by the club insurance. The membership for new underage players will be collected on the registration night, which will be advertised shortly.
