For the 47th year in a row, Jazz Fest took over the Fair Grounds Race Course on the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May to celebrate the indigenous music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana. The tradition is to invite every style of music associated with the city to gather in celebration of the blues, R&B, gospel music, Cajun music, zydeco, Afro-Caribbean, folk music, Latin, rock, rap music, country music, bluegrass, and everything in between — a musical gumbo that satisfies well beyond the bowl.In A Perfect World: A Look Back at New Orleans Jazz Fest 2017The 2017 lineup was headlined by Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Maroon 5, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Kings Of Leon, Usher & The Roots, and Harry Connick Jr.. The seven-day event was completed with Meghan Trainor, Lorde, Snoop Dogg, Alabama Shakes, Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio Band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Earth Wind & Fire, Wilco, Darius Rucker, NAS with the Soul Rebels, Buddy Guy, The Meters, Dr. John, Aaron Neville, George Benson, Irma Thomas, The Revivalists, and so many more.Beyond the amazing musical tastes, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival keeps the experience authentic with their plentiful artisanal offerings (we miss you, Crawfish Monica), second line parades, gospel and blues tents, and traditional Mardi Gras Indians.Photographer Marc Millman was on site both weekends, capturing the glory that is Jazz Fest.center_img Photo: Marc Millmanlast_img
