first_imgWi-Fi has finally been introduced at London Heathrow’s Terminal 5, which is the last terminal to receive broadband internet access at the flagship BAA airport.The new Wi-Fi hotspot will be the largest on offer from its provider, T-Mobile, in the UK offering passengers speeds of up to 8MB per second.Those using the service will be charged £10 to gain access to the service for 24-hours.Users will also be able to pay £5 for just one hour, while T-Mobile broadband customers will be able to gain access to the network for free.Ian Denchfield, head of commercial telecoms at airport operator BAA, said: “Seamless internet connectivity is an important part of our commitment to innovation and will form a key element in the future of travel.”The Wi-Fi system has a range equal to an area the size of 50 football pitches.Meanwhile, British Airways has recently opened a new dedicated check-in centre at Heathrow Terminal 5 exclusively for business class passengers.Related Reading: Getting Online, Onboard: Airborne WiFi Find Skyscanner on Facebook!
